A Kit of Parts

Given the requirements for the project to be peripatetic, we sought to design it such that it was robust enough to be put up, taken down and stored with relative ease and speed.

One of the major benefits of prototyping was gaining an understanding of how large the prefabricated components could be whilst remaining manageable for three or fewer people to lift and fix in place. The prototype enabled us to identify a number of flaws in the construction method chosen for the proposal, particularly in relation to their weight, the type of fixings used and the order of assembly. Consequently, developing a more pragmatic and sturdy set of prefabricated components has been central to the continued design and development of the project.
